"Award-winning writer/filmmaker pens article on how to write the dramatic premise for screenplays" May 16, 2007 -- Los Angeles, CA -- The bane for all screenwriters is how to write the dramatic premise. In the April 2007 issue of "Inkspotter News", award-winning writer/filmmaker Donald L. Vasicek penned a helpful article, "How to Establish the Dramatic Premise of Your Screenplay." It takes the writer from inception of writing the screenplay through to the ending of the screenplay. The highlight is how to write the dramatic premise of the screenplay. Vasicek said, "If you closely watch most good movies, you will see that the dramatic premise for the movie is usually established about ten minutes into the film. For example in my screenplay, "Leader of the Pack", when the main character, a 16 year-old boy learns that his Gramps needs surgery to save his life, he sets a plan into motion to win a muscle car race with a $25,000 first place prize to pay for the surgery. From this point forward, the teen puts all of his energy into preparing for that race so that he can win it." You can read the entire article at http://inkspotter.com/publications/newsletters/inkspotternews/InkSpotter%20News%205.01.pdf. Vasicek has penned scripts, screenwriting columns and worked as a writing mentor, tutor, and script doctor for over 350 writers, authors, producers and production companies. His publishing credits include two books, "How To Write, Sell, and Get Your Screenplays Produced", "The Write Focus", and over 500 articles. His is also a screenwriting expert on AllExperts.com. Writing and Filmmaking
Writing and filmmaking, just as books, articles, reports, poems, letters, commercials, etc., anything that you write, must tell a story. It must have a beginning, a middle, and an end. It needs a theme to hold everything together. Although non-linear films are intersecting usual linear filmmaking, if the reader of a book or a viewer of a film watches a film or reads something that is non-linear, it is going to make the view or the read much more difficult. So, as a writer and/or as a filmmaker, you must first make the distinction about who you want your audience to be. This will help you determine whether you should write or film in a non-linear or linear structure. Donald L. Vasicek Olympus Films+, LLC dvasicek@earthlink.net ... Read More
